THE DEUCES WILD- I'm In A Whirl (Specialty 654)
Not too many white boys made it onto the famed Specialty label. There was a brief- and today rare- country series. Then there were a couple of pounders in the Little Richard / Larry Williams style. And the Deuces Wild...
"I'm In A Whirl" was doomed from the start... Opening a song talking about your penis isn't gonna get you much radio play. Not today, and not in the 1950s. The Deuces Wild were on a nice Everly/Barker Brothers vibe though...
Interesting aside... In early 1959, Billboard magazine mentioned that both the Deuces Wild AND Bob and Ray were hot sellers in the Detroit area. I dug on Bob & Ray's Everly-styled rocker HERE.

I hear "meanest" (or did I miss something).
I was busy listening to the song while I was typing the previous comment and I forgot to say Thank You. So, Thank You, This one's terrific (I'm glad the download button was there this time).
I agree with KL, the lyric goes something like "I've got the meanest girl I've ever had" - but of course we all know what that will do to your penis!
Thanks for posting.
Of course it's meanest,... but your mom walks into your Davy Crockett themed room circa '59 and hears this scootin' on the radio waves... what's she gonna hear?
Thanks for the comments, btw. They are appreciated.
Now I'm hearing something else: "I've got the meanest girl I've ever had. The way she [??????] me's nearly drivin' me mad." I think I'm hearing the word that "Mom" would've heard in 1959, but what is it really? (I like this one a lot, so I've been playing it often -- It's not like I'm listening specifically for these things.)
Cheers WesTex, some real gems on here, including this!
